Barnyard Millet is also known as Jhangora, Kuthiravali, Oodhalu, Odalu, Kavadapullu.

Barnyard Millet is high in fibre and a good source of zinc and manganese. Barnyard millet tastes almost like broken rice when cooked. Whole Barnyard Millet is generally used to prepare upma, khichdi and pulav.

Millets are generally rain fed crops grown in dry lands thus assuming greater importance for regenerative agriculture and food security; they serve as a good source for proteins, micronutrients and phytochemicals.

Please consume millets under appropriate supervision; small quantities generally go a long way.

Commonly eaten as roti, dosa, rice, idli.
