Pearl Millet is also known as Bajra, Sajje, Kambu, Sajjalu, Kambalam.
Bajra is a nutritious and easy to digest cereal grain; being non-glutinous makes it a healthy option for people with a gluten allergy and celiac disease. Dry pearl millet flour is added to biscuits and breads to add a crunchy texture and to bring variety to baked foods.
Millets are generally rain fed crops grown in dry lands thus assuming greater importance for regenerative agriculture and food security; they serve as a good source for proteins, micronutrients and phytochemicals.
Please consume millets under appropriate supervision; small quantities generally go a long way.
Commonly eaten as roti, rice, porridge.
